Munakata Bethel Christian Center Doctrinal Statement

Munakata Bethel Christian Center Seal: The shape of the red cross from left to right shows the birth, death on the cross, burial, resurrection of Jesus Christ, the descent of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost and the Christian walk into eternal life.

1.  God
We believe in a One True God. He is the Creator of all things. We believe that God is Triune: Father, Son and Holy Spirit and has existed from the beginning.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Colossians 1:19, 2:9; John 5:17-30

2.  The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Bible is the Word of God and is inspired by Him. We also believe that it is the only righteous guide for Christian behavior. The Bible is infallible. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for connection, for instruction in righteousness..”
2 Timothy 3:15-17

3.  Jesus Christ
We believe that God’s only begotten Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. God proved Jesus Christ is Son of God by many miracles and wonders that He worked through His life. And Jesus died on the cross taking our place, and rose from the dead in the flesh.

・The Virgin Birth Isaiah 7:14
・Miracles Acts 2:22-24
・Death, Burial, Resurrection 2 Cor 5:21; 1 Cor 15:3-4
・The Ascension Acts 1:9-11; Romans 8:34
・The Lord’s Communion Matt 26:26-29; 1 Cor 11:23-26

4.  Salvation of Man
We believe that man can be saved by believing and accepting the work on the cross of Jesus Christ. “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9) We believe that the salvation of man comes about because Jesus Christ died or our sins, was buried, rose from the dead and appeared to His disciples according to the Bible.

・The New Birth – Romans 8:16
・Individual Salvation – Titus 2:11, 3:5-7

5.  Water Baptism
We believe that water baptism in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, that is the LORD Jesus Christ. We believe that just as Jesus Christ died was buried and rose again, the believer can leave the life of sin as we start a new life with Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:1-11

6.  The Baptism of the Holy Spirit
We believe that by being baptized in the Holy Spirit, believers can be true witnesses and workers for Jesus Christ. The initial evidence (sign) of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is speaking in new tongues. Acts 1:8, 2:4, 10:44-46, 19:1-7

We also believe all the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit are necessary for a healthy church and Christian life. 1 Corinthians 12:1-11; Galatians 5:22-23; Matthew 7:16-20

7.  The Second Coming of Christ
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will come again to accept the church as His bride by His might and glory. Then Jesus and His bride will rule the world for a thousand years. Those who don’t believe in God will be judged to eternal damnation.

・The Second Coming of Christ Revelation 19:11-16
・Millennium (1,000 years) Revelation 20:1-6
・Judgment of unbelievers 2 Thess 1:7-10; Rev 20:11-15

8.  Church
We believe that the church is the Body of Christ upon the earth and the church is a congregation of believers. Every person who is born again by the Holy Spirit is a part of the body of Christ. Eph 1:22-23, 2:19-22, 5:23-32; Col 4:15

9.  Ministers, The clergy
We trust ministers who have been called by God and are prepared to guide and teach the congregation of God. “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry and for the edifying of the body of Christ.” (Eph 4:11-12) We believe ministry should have a vision of world missions that goes beyond their own pastorate. Matthew 16:15, 20
